About Our Program
At Hausgladfel German Shepherds, our mission is to preserve and improve the German Shepherd Dog while producing exceptional companions that embody everything the breed was intended to be. We are dedicated to raising dogs that are healthy, athletic, intelligent, versatile, and confident; dogs that are equally capable of excelling in the show ring, on the training field, as service or protection dogs, or as loyal companions.
Our breeding program is founded on carefully selected imported West German Show Lines, bred in accordance with the SV (FCI) standard. These bloodlines are recognized worldwide for their outstanding structure, stable temperaments, and proven working ability. Every dog in our program is chosen not only for its pedigree and appearance, but for its character, trainability, and ability to contribute positively to the future of the breed.
We firmly believe that breeding dogs should be proven, not simply bred. Every breeding dog undergoes comprehensive health testing, including SV certified hips and elbows and Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) screening. Beyond health, our dogs must demonstrate the sound temperament, confidence, and working ability expected of the breed by earning titles in both SV conformation and Schutzhund/IGP before becoming part of our breeding program.
Quality has always taken precedence over quantity at Hausgladfel. We produce a limited number of carefully planned litters each year, allowing us to devote the time, attention, and resources necessary to properly raise, socialize, and evaluate every puppy. From their earliest days, our puppies are given the best possible foundation to prepare them for successful lives in a variety of homes and working roles.
Because every puppy is an individual, we place them primarily on temperament, personality, and aptitude rather than color or gender alone. This thoughtful approach helps ensure each puppy is matched with the family and lifestyle where they are most likely to thrive.
Our commitment to our puppies doesn't end when they leave our home. Every Hausgladfel puppy is raised with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), Early Scent Introduction (ESI), and Puppy Culture, receives comprehensive veterinary care, and goes home backed by our health guarantee and lifetime breeder support.
Above all, our goal is simple; to produce German Shepherds that enruch the lives of their families for years to come. Whether your dream is a competitive show dog, a dedicated sport partner, a dependable service dog, or an exceptional family companion, we are committed to producing puppies with the health, temperament, and trainability to help make that dream a reality.
About Us
Hausgladfel German Shepherds was established in 2023 with a simple mission to preserve and improve the German Shepherd Dog through thoughtful, ethical breeding while providing families with healthy, capable, and well-rounded companions.
Although our kennel is still growing, we are incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by experienced mentors, respected breeders, trainers, and veterinarians who have generously shared their knowledge and guidance. We are committed to lifelong learning and actively participate in clubs,
training, and titling our dogs because we believe the future of the German Shepherd Dog depends on breeders who are dedicated to continuously improving their program. We firmly believe the betterment of the breed is a collabroative effort, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who has helped shape the program we have today.
My name is Emily Gladfelter, and I'm the breeder behind Hausgladfel. My love for Germany Shepehrds began long before I ever owned one. As a child, I dreamed of having a German Shepherd, but my parents preferred smaller dogs, so I grew up with Chihuahuas instead. Even so, I spent countless hours researching the breed and learning everything I could. Watching family members and friends with German Shepherds only strengthened my admiration and convinced me that one day I would have one of my own.
That dream became a reality as soon as I moved out. Not long before, I have been diagnosed with autoimmune conditions, and my first German Shepherd ultimately became my service dog. Training and working alongside her was life changing. She gave me confidence, independence, and a much deeper appreciation for everything this remarkable breed is capable of.
At the same time, she taught me another invaluable lesson. Despite all the research I had done, she was not responsibly bred and faced several health and temperament challenges that required an incredible amount of time, training, and dedication to overcome. That experience opened my eyes to just how important responsible breeding truly is. It became clear that my next dog would come from a breeder who prioritized health, temperament, structure, and working ability above all else.
As I immersed myself in the world of ethical breeding, I discovered conformation and IGP, and everything changed. What began as a curiosity quickly became a passion. I fell in love with the process of training, competing, and learning how every piece from genetics and structure to temperament and health works together to produce exceptional German Shepherds. The more involved I became, the more certain I was that this was exactly where I belonged.
My husband, Matthew Gladfelter, had no idea what he was signing up for when we met, but he has been my biggest supporter from the very beginning. Together, we continue to learn, grow, and challenge ourselves to become better breeders, trainers, and stewards of this incredible breed.
Today, every decision we make at Hausgladfel is guided by the experiences that brought us here. We are committed to producing German Shepherds that are not only beautiful and capable but also healthy, confident, and dependable companions for every stage of life. Whether one of our puppies goes on to compete at the highest levels, serve alongside its handler, or simply become a beloved member of the family, our greatest reward is knowing we've helped create a lifelong partnership built on trust, purpose, and love.
