About Our Program
Our goal is to produce exceptional German Shepherd Dogs that embody the true essence of the breed; athletic, healthy, versatile, well tempered, and structurally correct companions capable of thriving in a variety of roles.
We strive to breed in accordance with the SV (FCI) standard, with a strong focus on imported West German Show Lines known for their structure, temperament, and working ability. Our dogs are carefully selected for their balanced disposition, correct conformation, and proper pigmentation, ensuring they meet both the physical and mental expectations of the breed.
We are deeply committed to the betterment of the German Shepherd Dog and believe strongly in proving our breeding stock through both conformation and working venues. All of our dogs undergo rigorous health testing, including SV certified hips and elbows and Degenerative Myelopathy (DM). In addition, each dog must demonstrate stable temperament and working capacity through the achievement of titles.
We prioritize quality over quantity, holding our program to high standards and breeding only those dogs that have proven themselves in health, structure, and character. This dedication allows us to consistently produce well rounded dogs suitable not only for show and sport, but also for service work, personal protection, and devoted family companionship.
Our ultimate goal is to produce healthy, confident, and adaptable puppies that seamlessly integrate into their forever homes and enrich the lives of their owners for years to come.
About Us
While we are a young kennel, we are proud to be mentored by several highly respected kennels, trainers, and veterinarians who help guide us in adhering to the breed standard and producing quality German Shepherds. We are actively working to establish ourselves within the community by participating in clubs, training, and titling our dogs. We firmly believe that the betterment of the German Shepherd Dog is a collaborative effort, and we are incredibly grateful to those who have supported and guided us along the way.
My name is Emily Gladfelter, and I am the breeder behind Hausgladfel. My passion for German Shepherds began long before I ever owned one. Growing up, I always dreamed of having a German Shepherd of my own, but my parents preferred smaller dogs, so I was raised with Chihuahuas instead. Despite that, I spent years researching the breed and learning everything I could. Having family members and friends with German Shepherds only deepend my admiration.
As soon as I moved out on my own, I got my first German Shepherd. Unfortunately, I had been diagnosed with autoimmune conditions at a young age, and she ultimately became my service dog. Training and working with her taught me an incredible amount and solidified my passion for the breed. However, despite all my prior research, she was not well bred and presented several challenges that required significant time and dedication to work through. That experience shaped my perspective and made it clear that my next dog would come from a responsible, ethical breeder.
As I continued to learn about proper breeding practices, my interest quickly grew into a passion. When the time came for my next dog, I eas drawn into the world of conformation and sport, and from there, everything truly took off. I fell in love with the community, the process, and the complexity behind producing quality dogs. The more I trained, showed, and worked my dogs, the more certain I became that this is what I am meant to do.
My husband, Matthew Gladfelter, had no idea what he was getting into when we met, but he has been an incredibly supportive partner every step of the way. Together we strive to continue to deepen our understanding of every aspect of breeding and training. Together we strive towards the goal of Hausgladfel.
